Andrew Prather Drone Photography

aerial photography and video

Welcome!

I'm glad you're here!

Hi, I’m Andrew, a photographer and licensed drone pilot in Tuckahoe, NY. I come from small town Pella, IA, which prides itself on its tulips, windmills, and Dutch heritage.

I specialize in getting breathtaking, high quality, high resolution drone footage. Why settle for your typical, lackluster, and forgettable drone photos? The epic photos I specialize in getting can be extremely hard to get; but, I will capture them for you so that you can use them on your website, in your marketing material, and hang them on your walls in your facilities. With my photos, you can wow your clients and inspire your employees.*

*To capture these epic photos, the weather has to be right. We can set up up our session one of two ways: a specific date (events and group photos tend to do be scheduled this way), or upon specific conditions. This latter option is weather dependent and will cost extra due to the variability required by this type of session. It will also require flexibility of both of us.

Where you might have seen my work.

Beyond customers who have hired me to take their portrait or photograph their special day, my work has appeared on the cover of the visitor guide for Pella, IA (Visit Pella); in marketing material for St Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary; on the websites and walls of several local Iowa businesses; and in marketing material/tv commercials put out by Pella’s Tulip Time Steering Committee and Opera House. My work has also been used by William B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, SVS Press, the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), the Diocese of the Midwest (OCA), the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania (OCA), OCLife, the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, the Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, and GregorianTV.

  • You should hire me for these reasons:

    1. I am licensed with the FAA. I have a 14 CFR Part 107 Certificate with the FAA. This is legally required to perform commercial drone work (any kind of drone work that is paid, or which is used by any organization or business, even if it was given to the business/organization for free). Businesses or people who hire unlicensed drone pilots can face fines of up to $11,000 per incident. Protect yourself, and hire a licensed drone pilot. See this article about a Realtor who was fined $11,000 for hiring an unlicensed drone pilot.

    2. I make safety a priority and make sure I am following all the laws so that neither of us receive fines from government agencies.

    3. I can get hourly insurance up to $10M.

    4. My work should speak for itself. See my portfolios.

  • Yes, because federal and quite often state law requires one. It is legally required to perform commercial drone work (any kind of drone work that is paid, or which is used by any organization or business, even if it was given to the business/organization for free). Entities which hire unlicensed drone pilots can face fines of up to $11,000 per incident. Protect yourself, and hire a licensed drone pilot.

Don’t believe me, see this article on the risks that you, the client, take when hiring non-licensed pilots.

49 USC 46306(b): “a person shall be fined under title 18…if the person— … (8)knowingly and willfully employs for service or uses in any capacity as an airman an individual who does not have an airman’s certificate authorizing the individual to serve in that capacity.”
